Waco’s Other Cotton Palace

It’s a busy weekend in Waco!

Waco’s history as the cotton capital of Texas is celebrated every year with an elaborate production known as the Cotton Palace Pageant, taking place this year on Friday, April 24, 2015. Events take place over the course of the weekend, attracting visitors from all over the state who come to both enjoy and participate in the event. According to resident historian and former innkeeper, Dutch Schroeder, the Cotton Palace Bed and Breakfast draws on some of the same rich tradition in Waco history.

A big hello from the new Cotton Palace Bed and Breakfast owners Jackie and Vicki Matthews!

Vicki Matthews will be the inn keeper, so stop by and say hi!

We have worked side by side for the last 13 years building a drilling company in West Texas. Recently, we and decided to venture back to a city we love and share a beautiful home with others.

We look forward to continuing the legacy of southern charm and hospitality here at The Cotton Palace.

A Note from Becky

First - a big, heartful thanks to all the supporters, friends and guests for the past 16 years of The Cotton Palace B & B! This journey was more wonderful than I ever imagined it could be! All of you have become part of my family. But it is time to retire, retire! (My first retire was from teaching for 27 years - that was 4 years ago.) My 2nd retire came last Monday when I turned over the reins of The Cotton Palace to Vicki and Jackie Matthews from Odessa. I can't wait for all of you to meet them - you know, I would not turn this over to just anyone! They are fabulous!!! I am so blessed that they will be continuing "Cotton Palace" service to our guests.

Just to let everyone know - you will still see us around The Cotton Palace. And to answer the big question - yes, Dutch will continue to be our "waiter in training" at breakfast.

Our new web site is within days of going online.

I can't wait for all of you to see what I have been working on for the past few months. Kevin Kennedy did an amazing job taking pictures of the B & B! Jill and Alexis with YellowWebMonkey have guided the design. And my friends have put up with me talking nonstop about spending all my time working on the new site! I'm ready to go online and shift my focus to talking more about what's going on at The Cotton Palace and around Waco. And I definitely would rather be talking about those Lady Bears and their run through the NCAA tournament. So stay tuned - I will be sending more news your way!

The Cotton Palace is Getting Ready for Spring

on Friday, 11 March 2011. Posted in Inn News

What an exciting time for The Cotton Palace B & B! We will be going online with our new and improved website this spring and that means....

better pictures, more description and more and improved ways to communicate with our guests and friends online.

Our beautiful, professional pictures are the work of Kevin Kennedy. We were lucky to become acquainted with Kevin – now a resident of Waco while his wife is a French professor at Baylor. Thanks to Alexis along with Hannah and Jill with our web design team at Yellow Web Monkey for putting everything together for us online and their patience in bringing me up to speed on 21st Century technology.
