Owners: Vicki and Jackie Matthews
Innkeeper: Vicki Matthews
Vicki started a journey in West Texas with her husband Jackie when they joined their families together in 2002 and worked side by side in a company they started together for thirteen years in the oil fields. They wanted to find somewhere new and could retire and fell in love with the Waco area, when Jackie would attend events at the historical Masonic building of Texas located in Waco. We discovered this beautiful already established B and B and thought this was what we were looking for.
We hope to provide a warm hospitable home to visit over and over for everyone to enjoy year round.
Innkeeper: Jennifer White
She is the wife of Jimmy, mom to Haylee May and Hayden, and she joined her parents from West Texas. Jenn brings so much to this home, her delicious breakfasts, and kindness makes all guests feel welcomed. She has jumped in and learned as much as she could about the area, so she can make sure whatever you are wanting to experience she can direct you in the right direction.
Waiter in training: Dutch Schroeder
Dutch is semi retired and will drop in from time to time to visit and serve.
Dutch has been the breakfast “waiter-in-training” since the opening of the inn. He retired in 1999 from Baylor University’s School of Education where he had been a professor in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department for 42 years. He was the head coach of the Baylor Bears baseball team for 16 years. He has been associated with Baylor’s letterwinners organization – the “B” Association since 1968, holding a number of positions. If you are a fan of Baylor University, its' sports history or just sports in general, you will enjoy listening to his stories (and tall tales) every morning at breakfast!
Betty Lou Schroeder
In memory of our precious Betty Lou who gained her wings in heaven but will be in our hearts forever and the soul of this B and B . Betty Lou is the love of Dutch’s life here on earth for 68 years and in heaven forever. Her loving touches are in every corner of this B and B and will be with us forever.
Waiter in training assistant: Haylee May
Daughter of Jenn and Granddaughter to Vicki, you will see her smiling face on weekends and holidays she drops by to lend a hand with everything from assisting Dutch with serving to carrying out luggage for guests. Ask her about the history of the house or places to go, she has been training with Dutch on all the going ons of Waco and the history. She brings a special charm to the B and B.
