100930_1108r_smallVicki and Jackie Matthews, have worked side by side for the last 13 years building a drilling company in West Texas. They recently decided to venture back to a city they love and share a beautiful home with others.  Dutch and Betty Schroeder will remain as Innkeepers.  They have spent much of their lives living and working in Waco.  All three have retired as educators to spend time sharing their love of Texas and Waco with guests.  Dutch spent 42 years in the Health/Physical education department at Baylor and is eager to share his Baylor experiences with potential new students and their families. There is no better way to experience Waco and all it has to offer then through the suggestions of the locals. Enjoy a warm Texas welcome and let the innkeepers share their little piece of central Texas with you.

    Waco’s Other Cotton Palace

It’s a busy weekend in Waco!

Waco’s history as the cotton capital of Texas is celebrated every year with an elaborate production known as the Cotton Palace Pageant, taking place this year on Friday, April 24, 2015. Events take place over the course of the weekend, attracting visitors from all over the state who come to both enjoy and participate in the event. (For more information about the history of the Cotton Palace, check out the Waco History app at www.wacohistory.org.)

According to resident historian and former innkeeper, Dutch Schroeder, the Cotton Palace Bed and Breakfast draws on some of the same rich tradition in Waco history.
