Waco’s Other Cotton Palace

It’s a busy weekend in Waco!

Waco’s history as the cotton capital of Texas is celebrated every year with an elaborate production known as the Cotton Palace Pageant, taking place this year on Friday, April 24, 2015. Events take place over the course of the weekend, attracting visitors from all over the state who come to both enjoy and participate in the event. (For more information about the history of the Cotton Palace, check out the Waco History app at www.wacohistory.org.)

According to resident historian and former innkeeper, Dutch Schroeder, the Cotton Palace Bed and Breakfast draws on some of the same rich tradition in Waco history. 

Waco Honoring Heisman Winner RGIII and Baylor Football this weekend - January 14, 2012

The Cotton Palace still has a few rooms available for those wanting to attend the big Baylor celebration this weekend. Baylor Nation has been invited to salute coach Art Briles' 2011 Bears and Heisman winner - RGIII - at a season-ending pep rally on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m., in the Ferrell Center.

The event is free and open to the public. The Ferrell Center doors will open at 6 p.m., with the program scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

All fans attending the championship celebration will also receive a free commemorative 2011 Baylor football poster and following the program, will be allowed to take their picture with the Heisman Trophy and the Bears' Valero Alamo Bowl championship trophy on the arena floor.
