from the original land of the Governor and his wife, this
collection of 20 carefully preserved wood-frame buildings
provides real-life snapshots of history.

Suspension Bridge and River Walk
Take the time to enjoy our Suspension Bridge and River Walk. They offer a beautiful view of the river, ideal spots for picnicking, photo ops galore, and a testament to building things well and building things right. If you happen to visit in the summer, you might be able to catch one of our programs at the adjoining Indian Spring Park and enjoy a free outdoor concert with live music from around the state.

President George W. Bush's Crawford Ranch
Drive by the "Texas White House" and maybe you'll catch a glimpse of President George W. Bush or Laura Bush at their 1600 acre ranch just a few miles outside of Waco, near Crawford, Texas. If you time it right, you might even get "up close and personal" with the President on one of his visits into town. The First Family spends vacations and hosts visiting heads of state at their rustic ranch-style retreat.
The President has hosted Russian President Vladmir Putin and Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair at what has also been called "The Western White House".

Baylor University
Visit the largest Baptist university in the world. Baylor University, chartered in 1845 under the Republic of Texas, sits on the banks of the Brazos River. The picturesque campus has expanded in the past few years to include the new state-of-the-art Sheila and Walter Umphrey Law Center and the Jim and Julie Turner Athletic Complex.
